Software Components



11.    Any software consists of three major components – programs, documents and operating procedures.
22.    There is difference between software and program:       
a.     Program is one part of entire software or in other words, program is a subset of software.
b.    Any program consists of source code and object code
c.     Thus program is an instance of software.
33.    The documentation consists of various manuals. These manuals are created at the end of each phase.
44.    The procedures represent instructions for the initial setup and use of software systems. It also consists of some troubleshooting instructions that can be followed on failure of software system. These procedures can be manual in the form of manuals. There are two types of manuals:
a.     User manual
b.    Operational manual
