After India Under-19 declared their innings on 393 for eight in the last session the Sri Lanka Under 19 were 11 without loss when stumps were called. The home team were trailing by 170 runs with all wickets intact at the end of second day's play of the ongoing four-day encounter in the island nation.
After India had lost both their openers early in the innings on the first day, Vijay Zol and Sanju Samson built a 160-run partnership for the third wicket to take the visitors past SL U19's first innings total and ensure a platform for a lead. Lakshan Jayasinghe broke the stand by dismissing Samson for 70. With the score on 219 for three, Shreyas Iyer then joined his captain to build on the lead. Zol carried on his sublime form and scored a patient century – 128 off 204 – before being sent back by Binura Fernando.
The Indian colts lost wicketkeeper Ankush Bains a bit later but Iyer and Aamir Gani added 98 runs until Priyamal Perera struck to end the partnership. Iyer who had made a valuable 84, edged the ball to the keeper and had to walk back. The bowler then trapped Kuldeep Yadav lbw off the next ball but was denied a hat-trick. And later in the same over Gani was run out for 41.
With three wickets falling in the 100th over at 392 for eight, lower-order batsmen Atul Singh and Chama Milind came in to bat but were yet to open their accounts when the visitors deiced to declare their innings and inserted Sri Lanka U19 to bat at the fag end of the second day. With 393 for eight the Zol-led side had a sizeable lead as they took the field in the last session.
Openers Hashan Dumindu and Minod Bhanuka then saw SL through six overs and putting up 11 runs before calling it a day.
Brief scores:

Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-with-World-Cup-Trophy

India's World Cup title defence in 2015 is set to begin against arch rivals Pakistan and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is confident that his side can stand up to the challenge. "Our recent victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 has provided the team with a lot of confidence, and I am sure this experience will help us in our preparations for the World Cup in 2015." (Also Read: ICC World Cup 2015 Fixtures: India to face Pakistan in opener)

Reminiscing about his side's 2011 World Cup triumph, Dhoni said, ""It only seems like yesterday that we won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in front of a passionate and supportive home crowd. World Cup is a very special event for every cricketer because it only takes place every four years. Having tasted success in Mumbai in 2011, we'll be working very hard to retain it. I'm keenly looking forward to the tournament and confident that we'll do well." (Also Read: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 broadcast List)

Alastair Cook, who led his side to the final in the ICC Champions trophy 2013, expressed his side's eagerness to participate in the 2015 World Cup and pointed out the England are rising steadily  in the 50-over format. "We have been improving steadily as a one-day side in recent years and are very much looking forward to the challenge of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. We will be working hard in the coming months to ensure we give ourselves the best possible opportunity to go one step further in 2015." Talking about Australia and New Zealand hosting the tournament, Cook said, ""Playing cricket in Australia and New Zealand is always a fantastic experience and I have no doubt it will be another great occasion both for the teams and their supporters."

At the launch event of the 2015 World Cup in Wellington, ICC President Alan Isaac spoke about the global appeal of the tournament. "I'm delighted to be part of this historic occasion as today we officially start the countdown to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, an event that, over the past 40 years, has become a truly global event. ICC events have established a unique place in the cricket calendar, and, as we've seen at our most recent events in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, players, sponsors, media, fans and supporters from all around the world want to be part of the spectacle," Isaac said.

"Sport is synonymous with life in Australia and New Zealand, and both countries boast some of the best facilities in the world. With the World Cup returning to these shores for the first time since 1992, I am sure it will be an event to remember," Isaac added.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson who attended the launch in Melbourne reinforced Isaac's views by saying, "The ICC Cricket World Cup is the flagship tournament of the 50-over game. The 2015 tournament will mark 40 years since the first World Cup in 1975 and that history of great contests and heroes helps make the tournament what it is - the most sought after prize in our increasingly global game."  Richardson also stated that the event would strengthen the 50 over format, "The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be returning to Australia and New Zealand after 23 years and will be staged at the back of two outstanding 50-over ICC events - the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. I'm absolutely confident that the success of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will further strengthen the status of 50-over cricket as a successful and viable format alongside Tests and Twenty20 Internationals."

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum appears to be quite happy with the draws and believes his side can do well in the group stage. "We've had recent success over both Sri Lanka and England in one dayers so to face them and a qualifying team in the first three matches is certainly an encouraging draw for us."

Talking about playing in front of the home crowd, McCullum put the focus on Christchurch, ""It'll also be a special occasion to open the tournament in Christchurch, where I now live, after everything the city has gone through."

John Harnden, Chief Executive of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Local Organising Committee, said that he wanted as many fans as possible to be part of this rare event.

"This tournament is about the best teams, the best players and their endurance and skills that will see only the best left standing. We want as many fans as possible to be a part of this rare event," Harnden said. "Australia and New Zealand have diverse communities who are passionate about their heritage and very passionate about cricket. We'll be working hard in local communities to ensure they can follow their teams, attend matches and play a part in the event in 2015."

"The result is a great one for cricket and fans for both countries. We have every team playing in both countries, equal number of host cities and pool games. This will be a summer that inspires young cricketers and provides lasting memories," he added.

India Under-19 were trailing by 142 runs with eight wickets in hand at stumps on Day 1 of the second four-day match against Sri Lanka Under-19, after spinning the opposition out for 212. Left-arm spinner, Kuldeep Yadav was the chief architect of the SL downfall at the Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala. He finished with impressive figures of 17.2-3-38-6 in the first innings.
Earlier, after SL U19 opted to bat first, pacer Atul Singh provided early breakthroughs by claiming the hosts' openers, while Pankaj Jaiswal dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama to leave SL on 75 for the loss of three wickets. Yadav then ran through the rest of the line-up, while Aamir Gani chipped in with the wicket of Priyamal Perera, who presented some late resistance lower down the order with a 68-ball 36. Even as wickets fell in quick succession, No.3 bat, Kavindu Kulasekara held up one end with a gritty knock to help the home team past the 200-run mark. His run in the middle was finally ended for 84 off 180 balls, when Yadav trapped the batsman leg-before.
In response, the Indian colts were 70 for the loss of two wickets. The visitors lost both their openers with 59 runs on the board. Akhil Herwadkar was the first to be sent back for eight by AK Tyronne, while Shubham Khajuria was dismissed for 36 by Chamika Karunaratne. When play ended, Vijay Zol and Sanju Samson were batting on 12 and five respectively.

Report: Zimbabwe vs India, 3rd ODI, Harare, 28th July 2013

Amit-Mishra-Zimbabwe-vs-India-3rd-ODI

With a seven-wicket win in the one-sided third match against Zimbabwe, India have claimed the five-match ODI series with a 3-0 lead. After the Indian seamers exploited the conditions early on to send the opposition on the backfoot, the spin attack, led by Amit Mishra's four-for skittled them out for 183. Captain Virat Kohli (68*) then effortlessly led India to the target at the Harare Sports Club after Shikhar Dhawan set the tone with a quick 35.
Opting to bowl first, the unchanged Indian team dominated the proceedings from the word go to bowl the home team out for 183 with four overs to spare. Opening the bowling for visitors, Vinay Kumar removed Visu Sibanda off the third ball of the day without Zimbabwe even opening their account. And while their first run came off a wide, Sikandar Raza tentatively edged Mohammed Shami to Dinesh Karthik off the pacer's first delivery to leave his team on two for two.
With his team reeling from the early blows, captain Brendan Taylor joined Hamilton Masakadza and the duo worked diligently to steady the ship. The duo stitched a partnership but just as Zimbabwe looked like they were recovering from the shaky start, a brilliant catch diving forward by Shami off Jaydev Unadkat to send back Taylor ended the stand for 65. It was all downhill for the hosts from there on as once again in the series they failed to string together sizeable partnerships.
13 runs later, Amit Mishra, introduced into the attack was on a hat-trick with the wickets of Masakadza and Malcom Waller. While the No 3 nudged the leg-spinner to the keeper, Waller was caught leg-before. Elton Chigumbura who denied Mishra the landmark and had played valuable knocks in the last two games however didn't last long and was trapped lbw by Ravindra Jadeja a couple of overs later. Losing wickets in clusters the home team were floundering on 89 for six in 23rd over.
While Sean Williams was grinding it out in the middle to hold up one end, he lost Prosper Utseya next. The lower-order batsman managed to nick a Shami delivery to Karthik and walked back. Attempting to add to the total Williams soon ran himself out taking on Jadeja while trying to sneak in an extra single.
Tendai Chatara and Brian Vitori then battled it out for a few overs to add a useful 34 runs for the ninth wicket until the latter was sent packing by Mishra's googly. The bowler then wrapped up the innings by ending Chatara's resistance for 23.
Chasing the below par total, India lost Rohit Sharma in the sixth over. The opener nudged debutant Michael Chinouya to Taylor behind the stumps after looking in good nick and had smashed a couple of boundaries en route to his 14. The Zimbabwe pacer then welcomed Kohli with a blow to the body. But, unfazed the India captain joined Dhawan in taking the innings forward garnering runs at a healthy rate. However, Dhawan powerfully hit a Chatara delivery straight in the cover region 40 runs later where, Sibanda held on to the ball to send back Dhawan.
Kohli and Ambati Rayudu then continued to chip away at the Zimbabwe attack and added 64 runs for the third wicket to close in on the target. While Kohli was approaching his fifty, Rayudu however departed after hitting the ball back to Vitori an over after India took the batting powerplay.
Suresh Raina then replaced him at the crease and joined the skipper in milking the bowlers. Stepping on the accelerator, while Kohli reached his fifty with a boundary through off side, the duo took the team to victory with over 14 overs to spare in an unbroken 56 run stand.
Brief Scores: Zimbabwe 183 all out in 46 overs (S Williams 45, A Mishra 4/47, M Shami 2/25) lost to  India 187/3 in 35.3 overs (V Kohli 68*, S Dhawan 35, A Rayudu 33) by 7 wickets
Man of the MatchMan of the MatchAmit Mishra for his four-for to set-up the match in India's favour
Amit Mishra is the Man of the Match. Mishra: "Always speak to my bowling coaches and they tell me to go for wickets, and not worry about runs. Whenever you take wickets, it puts pressure. Have worked hard on the googly, with Joe Dawes, and lots of talking on it as well. There are a lot of upcoming players in the side and there is healthy competition."

Virat Kohli: "Was important to win to seal the series. Early breakthroughs with the ball, and not that difficult a total to chase down. We are not setting any goals, did not think we had to seal the series today. Zimbabwe still have some inexperience in the line-up and it is about gaining experience. I am one of the few experienced guys in this side and I am trying to take responsibility. Their bowlers have bowled in good areas, they know how to bowl on these wickets, they are using the two new balls well. Our fast bowlers can learn from them."

Brendan Taylor: "Getting quite frustrating now, leading up to the series the amount of work we put in, that not translating into results, and knowing the ability of the players, is irritating. There is still lot to play for in Bulawayo. Generally soft dismissals, guys need to toughen up mentally. Chinouya has been knocking on the door for ages."
